LBA is a leading R&D business for buoyant aircraft with professional expertise, knowhow and experience stemming from 1981, when our principal engineers took up with natural LTA ways, able to invent and develop practical new sustainable:
- Buoyant aircraft – airships, balloons and aerostats.
- Ground Systems, Equipment and Facilities – mooring, handling, logistics, maintenance and storm protection.
- Commercial inflatable structures – tents, marquees, fabric shelters…
They solve issues and market needs!
We also can help other businesses with:
- Support for design/engineering work
- Airworthiness authority approvals/certification.
- Training/advice to help developers, operators, marketing and media people.
Primary Goals:
- Help the buoyant aircraft industry to flourish.
- Enable new types leading to serious aerial-cranes and other needed long endurance/range types able to access and operate from small sites anywhere worldwide.
- Facilitate ground arrangements, certification and training.
- Minimise environmental harm using natural and low-powered sustainable methods.

Illustrated below right, the LS-L20 is an omni-directional (OD) airship proposal as a Patroller with precision control designed to access small sites practically anywhere. It’s different to other unidirectional (UD) aircraft from flotation ability, allowing low-powered pseudo-VTOL methods that ease access (like helicopters) but quietly, with little downdraft disturbance. It’s also better for loiter duties from ability to drift silently as balloons using energy judicially, which may be from the sun, to control course for long endurance and range.
Note: It could be your name on the aerostat.
See our Projects page for information about other new buoyant-aircraft possible.
Investment in LBA
Investment is needed to fulfil LBA’s goals via our Strategy for new aerostats and airships.
